Main ContentMessage from GHHS Members to New Medical Students
Medical school is stressful, especially when students have to deal with life issues that go on outside of school on top of their schoolwork. Every year, students deal with things like family deaths, break-ups, marriage, divorce, planned and unplanned pregnancies, depression, suicide, alcoholism, board failure, financial struggle, burnout and feelings of not wanting to be a doctor - just to name a few.
If you ever find yourself in one of these situations, you are not alone! While the UMMC SOM has numerous resources for you, it can be daunting to know who to go to with a problem.
GHHS is made up of medical student and resident members, and it is completely separate from school administration. We strive to be a non-judgmental peer resource for you to come to with hard questions. We can offer support and guide you to resources available to you, as well as put you in touch with a member who's dealt with a similar problem.
Don't go through hard times without support! Feel free to contact current members for advice and/or assistance.
